MODE4 Architecture’s purpose is to design beautiful architecture, finely tailored to our client's needs.  To achieve this purpose, we understand our first priority is to listen.  We strongly believe the most successful architecture begins with thorough investigation of all design possibilities during the early design phase, and is achieved through a collaborative process involving open and honest discussions between the architect, client, and builder.

Great solutions, whether traditional or modern, need to be designed thoughtfully and holistically, from schematic diagrams through construction details.  It is with expert attention to both space-making and detailing, MODE4 Architecture, PLLC creates comfortably sophisticated architecture, designed for the way you live.

MODE4 Architecture, PLLC began in 2013, and is located in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia.  We have completed most of our work in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC.  However, our work radius continues to grow beyond the DC metro area.  We have designed approximately fifty projects of varying sizes since opening the studio.

We believe our company’s guiding design principles and values set MODE4 Architecture, PLLC apart from other firms.

We listen before we talk. We hear your needs, and respond with thoughtful and creative solutions. And then we listen some more.

The tireless effort we give is what we believe is necessary to finding the best possible design for your lifestyle. This is true throughout the project, and is especially important during the early design phases when getting the “bones” of the solution is imperative. We will design until you are satisfied, we will never quit on you, and we will never force you to accept a solution that isn’t right for you.

We are excellent designers. We pride ourselves on our creativity and thoughtfulness, and on our ability to design a custom seamless addition to your existing house, a traditional treasure, or a modern stand-alone statement.

The attention to detail we show in our construction drawings is unmatched by most architects doing custom home designs. We build it on paper before a 2x4 is ever purchased, so that there are no surprises during construction. You see what your money is buying before you sign-on with a builder.

Our design solutions respond specifically to the site of your project, with consideration given to all factors, including context, topography, climate, and solar orientation. We strive to design open, light-filled spaces with a strong connection between interior and exterior spaces.

We are keenly aware of the delicate balance required to achieve beautiful, functional architecture while remaining within our client’s construction budget.  We never lose site of this balance, and we take great pride in being able to achieve both requirements with equally great success.
